Sunday, March 3rd

March 3rd at People’s Light will be a celebration of all things water, pools, and swimming! Starting at 1:00 PM, Company member and Greater Philadelphia Area legend Tom Teti will be performing a pre-show Scoop: Tales with Tom, an autobiographical piece focusing on Tom’s experience growing up in segregated Yeadon, Pennsylvania. At 1:30 PM, members of America’s oldest and most prominent Black-owned swim club, the Nile Swim Club, will be on-campus promoting their new book: The Nile Swim Club of Yeadon, A History. After the performance, please join members of the Nile, Dr. Thames-Taylor, and former swimmer Vicki L. Baker in the next installment of our Intersecting Realities panel series: The Black Struggle for the Joy of Water.
