People's Light, in collaboration with TrailOff, presents Where the Light Won't Go, an augmented reality audio drama. TrailOff is an audio storytelling app created by Swim Pony in collaboration with the Pennsylvania Environmental Council (PEC) that puts YOU in the center of the drama! Get out onto a trail and let a 360° world swirl around you. Literally step into the shoes of characters as they run from monsters, uncover clues to mysteries, or adventure into unknown secrets from the past. TrailOff uses your phone’s technology to transport you into an augmented reality world that syncs to your movements as you walk a trail. Each story is uniquely crafted for its site, written by incredible local authors who demonstrate rigorous artistic practice and connections to communities traditionally underserved by environmental programming. This is NOT your grandma’s nature trail!

TrailOff Walk

Date: Saturday, May 18
Time: 5:30pm
Location: 1001 Chesterbrook Blvd, Berwyn, PA

CLICK HERE to register. Registration is NOT required but is strongly encouraged.

Join us for a walk along Chester Valley Trail to listen to Where the Light Won't Go by Ari Villeda Martinez. Emotionally-driven poetry meets queer Latinx experience in this Neil Gaiman-esque drama when Luz, a trans teen just killed in a car crash, meets Dog – the god of Death tasked to bring her to the underworld. A simple walk leads to discovering a set of deities sitting just beyond the surface of human existence and perhaps even restarting the wheel of existence for the living world. The trail is 2.6 miles long and rated medium to high difficulty point to point (with short out & back section at the end), with pavement and dirt, moderate inclines, heavy foot traffic, and bikes.

Post-Trail Reflection

Date: Sunday, May 19
Time: 1pm
Location: People's Light, Lusk Library

After the walk on Saturday, join us on Sunday for a group reflection on the interaction of narrative art and nature. If you have tickets to the Hurricane Diane matinee, we'll end this conversation with enough time to get to the Haas stage for the performance.
