Mitch Chakour

(He/him) People’s Light: A Christmas Carol (2021), A Christmas Carol in Concert (digital). Mitch was Joe Cocker’s music director, keyboardist and vocalist in the 70s and 80s doing 10 world and many national tours. He has toured with The J. Geils Band singing with Peter Wolf, opening the House of Blues and performing at Fenway Park in Boston along with Aerosmith. He played as the house guitarist for Joe’s Place in Boston early in his career, where he worked with the best of the blues: Howling Wolf, Big Momma Thornton, Koko Taylor, Muddy Waters, Freddie King and many other blues’ greats. He has a diverse playing resume that includes B.B. King, James Brown, Bonnie Raitt, Chuck Berry, Matt Guitar Murphy, and Daphne Rubin-Vega, and Mitch’s Mission Band was an acclaimed regional band for many years. Mitch has arranged and performed with the Hartford Symphony and the Massachusetts Symphony and as music director for Majestic Theater, New Century Theater and as director of Music for The Performing Arts High School in Hadley MA. He has composed music for Omni Music for television, radio and film.
