Help kids across the region stay active, warm, dry and comfortable at school and on the playground.
People’s Light is partnering with Cradles to Crayons to collect shoe donations for children in need throughout the run of our 15th Anniversary Holiday Panto, Cinderella. Bring new and gently used shoes with you to your performance of Cinderella, or use the drop-off bin located outside the Congdon Center (home to our Box Office.)
Cradles to Crayons has a particular need for boys’ shoes in sizes 4 (infant/toddler) to 6 (youth/adult) at this time, but we appreciate donations of all children's shoes in sizes 4 (infant/toddler) to 9 (youth/adult). Rubber-soled sneakers and waterproof winter boots are the most needed shoe type.
#GivingTuesday is a global giving movement that kicks off the charitable season on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (US). It was conceived in response to the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Much more than a nod to Cinderella’s glass slipper, our Giving SHOESday drive will provide local children with the footwear they need to be active and stay in school.
Here are the facts:
- Cradles to Crayons consistently receives requests for shoes throughout the year. Although there is an increase in overall “Kidpack” requests during the winter season, the need for shoes never wavers.
- Shoes make up only 5% of the donations they receive, despite shoes being one of their most requested items.
- Cradles to Crayons is only able to fulfill shoe requests an average of 66% of the time.
If you have any questions about the drive, please call Dawn Warden, Director of Special Events & Corporate Relations, at 610.647.1900 Ext. 103.
