Students entering grades 6 through 9*
July 8-12 (1 week)
Monday-Friday
9:00am-4:00pm
*Older high school students may also enroll with permission from the Director of Artist Training, Liz Filios.
Sample a variety of perspectives in this exciting week-long program. Flex your performance muscles with our core faculty in acting, voice, movement, and improvisation as well as with guest artists in a diverse series of masterclasses that offer something new each day. Find your creative voice under the guidance of a professional playwright, build worlds with expert designers, and dream about the rest of your summer as you expand your idea of what theatre can be.
This sampler week is a great way to explore theatre as a newcomer. With different elements each day, there are many opportunities to discover where personal connection and inspiration may take hold. We equally recommend this program for people who are already invested in theatre, as a way to expand their knowledge of the craft, and meet multiple professional artists, with different methods, backgrounds and teaching styles.
Try everything. Do it all. Surprise Yourself.
This session does not have a culminating performance. Loved ones are invited to an informal sharing and reception on the final afternoon, Friday, July 12 at 3pm. Are you longing for a performance onstage? Consider our three-week programs, Performance Lab or World Builders where students create a new piece of theatre together.
Can this one-week session be combined with the longer programs?
Yes, that works perfectly! While a small number of frequently-used exercises and techniques may overlap, the structure and goals of these programs are quite different, and will not be repetitive for a student who chooses to enroll in both.
