Theatre is as varied as the people who make it! Over the course of one week, teens will have the opportunity to explore theatre's many forms. From Shakespeare to slapstick, Greek drama to modern farce, naturalism to satire, dark comedy to documentary style — our teaching artists and guest experts will guide students on an exciting journey through the genres, styles, attitudes and techniques that span theatrical craft. Build the skills and unearth the historical context that will allow you to walk into any audition room feeling confident, in-the-know, and ready to create.
These sessions do not have a culminating performance. Loved ones are invited to an informal sharing and reception on the final afternoon of the program. Are you longing for a performance onstage? Consider our multi-week programs: Story Finders (grades 2-4), World Builders (grades 5-8), or Performance Lab (grades 8 to pre-college, admission by audition).
Can these one-week sessions be combined with the longer programs?
Yes, that works perfectly! While a small number of frequently-used exercises and techniques may overlap, the structure and goals of these programs are quite different, and will not be repetitive for a student who chooses to enroll in both a single and multi-week program.
