Students entering grades 9 through pre-college
July 15-August 2 (3 weeks)
Final sharing Friday, August 2 at 7:00pm
We don’t always know where the inspiration for our work will come from. We know it’s not linear or universal. We begin with a question. We dig into multiple sources including published scripts, local research and true stories. Stepping into a stranger’s shoes, we discover new ways of communicating with commitment, imagination and authenticity.
This multidisciplinary program offers teens the opportunity to cross-train as both performers and creators. Students will hone their craft in improv, scene study, movement and voice, and apply their skills to the creation of an original piece to share on our intimate Steinbright Stage. Plus, summer participants get a rare glimpse into the creative process with artists working on a new musical this summer at People’s Light. Learn what it takes to get an idea from the drawing board all the way to the stage.
Chase your curiosity. Lean into your ambition. Make it real.
This session concludes with a longer final day and culminating performance, which takes place at 7pm on Friday, August 2.
Early registration (by March 15): $1300
Regular registration: $1425
Registration fee includes a Summer Studio t-shirt, attendance at a People’s Light summer production, and video of the final sharing.
