Become a braver musical theatre performer! This session breaks down the essential ingredients of storytelling through song, and puts them back together in a dynamic musical theatre performance. Teens will spend this one-day workshop with actor, writer and educator Patricia Noonan, who will help them transform a song of their choice into a compelling, personal and nuanced performance.
Saturday, October 12th, 2:15–5:15pm
♫ Important notes to prepare for this workshop ♫
In advance of the workshop, every participant will select a song from any musical to be the basis of their work with Patricia. Please come to the workshop with the following:
- A 32-bar section (about 1-1:30 minutes) of your song that you have fully memorized. This workshop will focus on your storytelling choices in performance, which can be difficult to incorporate if you’re still learning the song.
- A hard copy of the sheet music for your song, for the piano accompanist. Double check that your sheet music is in the correct key.
If your access to sheet music is limited, or you don’t know how to determine the key signature, don’t worry!
When you register, please email ArtsDiscovery@peopleslight.org and we'll be happy to help. Please don’t wait for the last minute to request help; we want everyone to get the most they can out of the workshop experience.
