Liz Filios is thrilled to join the Education Staff at People’s Light, where she has appeared onstage in Noises Off, Cinderella, Arthur & the Tale of the Red Dragon, The Matchmaker and A Christmas Carol. A Philadelphia-based actor, composer and teaching artist, Liz has had the opportunity to perform at the Arden Theatre, Wilma Theater, Walnut Street Theatre, Theatre Horizon, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, South Coast Rep, The Folger Theatre, Joe’s Pub, the Kimmel Center, Teatro Avvaloranti, Cape Town Opera, and the Kennedy Center. Liz is a graduate of the Musical Theatre program at the University of Michigan. She studied Opera and Commedia dell'Arte at the International Opera Theatre, Primitive Voice at the Wilma Theater, Gamelan at the Çudamani Summer Institute, and Songwriting with composers Bill Finn and Adam Gwon. Liz is also an alumnus of Canada’s National Voice Intensive and a founding member of the Embodied Voice Collective. She teaches acting, voice, movement, composition and music literacy for organizations such as Opera Philadelphia, Play On Philly, Arden For All, Theatre Exile, the Lantern Theater, Summer On Stage, Pennsylvania Theatre Institute, Abington Friends School, The Waldron Academy, The University of the Arts and the Pig Iron School for Advanced Performance Training. Liz is an Independence Foundation Fellow and a recipient of the F. Otto Haas Award.
