Breaking Bread: Nourishment for the Body and Mind

NEW DATE: Thursday, March 5, 6:00–9:00pm

Join us for a workshop in community-building through storytelling and bread-making. Company Artist and community organizer Teri Lamm, in a very special collaboration with renowned chef and Director of Farmhouse Operations Richard Portney, will guide this masterclass as you enjoy food for the heart, body and mind.

Participants will follow a series of creative prompts connected to the communal practice of storytelling, sharing memories from the silly to the profound through language and gesture. Interspersed with these creative games, participants will be guided through the process of pretzel making, learning to form the dough, proof, cut, brine and bake it.

Participants will leave this 3-hour workshop with a basket filled with warm, freshly baked pretzels, a few of People's Light's favorite recipes, some pro-tips from our chef, and a host of nourishing stories from everyone at the table.

Nose to Nose: How Clowning Reveals Our Most Authentic Self

Saturday, March 14, 2:00–5:00pm

Play is something we know deeply because we have all been children. Clowning is a state of playfulness that allows us to experience a child-like, naive, and vulnerable state of being.

Using games, movement, and improvisation, Broadway veteran Angie Foster will help students use the Clown's ability to take risks and put logic aside to make way for the imagination. The clown leads with hope, despite the inevitable messes which usually occur. Honoring the mystery of human fumbling, clowning is a state of playfulness that invites us put aside the "shoulds" and "should nots" which can constrain our natural creativity, and stand in the world in new and surprising ways.
