Vicki Baker, a Philadelphia transplant from Washington, DC, is a life-long learner with a passion for teaching and creating. Teaching was an early passion of Vicki’s. She was a high school peer tutor, student college instructor, music instructor, English handbell director, swim instructor, and swim coach. It is her involvement as a competitive swimmer, with the year-round US Swim DC Stafford Sea Devils and summer Takoma Park Princemont League swim teams as a child and a coach as a young adult that brings her to this panel today.
A product of DC Public Schools, Vicki began a chemical research career with a division of Merck & Company after graduating from Carnegie-Mellon University. The desire to combine strategic thinking and creativity resulted in an MBA from the Simons School of Business, University of Rochester and a 20-year packaged goods marketing career with Fortune 500 companies. In her last marketing position, Vicki taught managers how to successfully operate retail food outlets, returning to her first love, teaching. Vicki left corporate America, obtained a Master of Education from Drexel University, and has enjoyed a 22-year career as a high school math teacher.
Vicki and her husband Maurice live in Philadelphia. They have two adult sons and two grandchildren.
