(She/her) Lisa Ramirez is a mixed-race, award-winning actor and playwright. Her plays include, EXIT CUCKOO (nanny in motherland), world-premiere produced by the Working Theater, NYC (Colman Domingo- director); ART OF MEMORY, commissioned by Company SoGoNo, presented at the 3-Legged Dog, NYC (Tanya Calamoneri- director); Pas de Deux (lost my shoe), Cherry Lane Theatre/Mentor Project, NYC (Bryan Davidson Blue- director); TO THE BONE, originally a Working Theater commission; world-premiere produced by the Cherry Lane Theatre (Lisa Peterson- director); Pulitzer Prize Nominee, Helen Merrill Playwriting Award, Kilroy List; DOWN HERE BELOW, an adaptation of Maxim Gorky’s, THE LOWER DEPTHS; commission and world-premiere by the Oakland Theater Project (Michael French- director); IN THE MOUNTAINS, commissioned by The Workshop Theater, NYC (Thomas Cote- director); MORE THAN GRAPES, commissioned by Theatre-First in Berkeley (Sean San José- director); sAiNt jOaN (burn/burn/burn), commissioned by Oakland Theater Project (Michael Moran- director); Book of Sand (a fairytale), commissioned by Oakland Theater Project (Susannah Martin, director). Lisa was invited to be in the 2022 Writers Workshop at the Center Theatre Group in Los Angeles, led by Luis Alfaro, where she developed a new autobiographical play, ALL FALL DOWN. She is a recent recipient of the Gerbode Foundation Grant and is developing CHORUS OF HUERTAS, an original play for Oakland Theater Project about the life of the legendary activist Dolores Huerta. Lisa was recently part of the 2023 Over 40 Writers Lab (supported by Meryl Streep) where she is co-developing FIFTY, an original television pilot with writer and filmmaker Michele Noble. She is also currently working on the screenplay adaptation of her play, TO THE BONE with writer Ale Mesa and several other original television and film projects.
