EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYMENT
People’s Light is an equal opportunity employer. We work to cultivate a deep and wide reach in order to connect with prospective employees who have varied experiences and skills, a collaborative attitude, and the capacity and desire for growth.
NON-DISCRIMINATION HIRING POLICY
People’s Light seeks to recruit and retain a diverse workforce as a reflection of our commitment to create an antiracist, socially just, and inclusive presence in Chester County and our surrounding community. People’s Light does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, or any other legally protected characteristic. Applicants from populations historically underrepresented in the theatre field are strongly encouraged to apply.
This summer internship role will support three key individuals in the theatre: Jane Moss, Director of Development, Mieke D, Director of Community Programs, and Zak Berkman, Producing Artistic Director.
Projects with the Development department will provide experience with activities such as board communication and tools, grant applications, organizing data, research regarding individuals, foundations and prospective funders, and planning for special fundraising events. Community Programs involvement may include representing People’s Light while tabling or otherwise participating in community festivals, hosting community partners in our spaces for receptions and pre- or post-show events, along with data organization and communication for future events in the theatre season, particularly around our world premiere production of Mushroom. Projects with the Producing Artistic Director will be assigned as needed, and may include independent research tasks. The intern will also be included in full-staff meetings, trainings, opening nights, or other company gatherings as appropriate over the course of their involvement at the theatre.
We welcome an intern who is flexible, attentive to detail, committed to building an environment of thoughtful, collaborative hospitality, and curious to learn from a variety of staff members and roles over the summer. Driver’s license highly preferred; intern with a clean driving record may have the opportunity to drive a company vehicle to participate in community events. Conversational Spanish is a plus.
