Theatre School Programs

Classes for young people and adults of all ages,
backgrounds, and levels of experience.

The Theatre School at People’s Light offers numerous classes each year, providing the community an opportunity to collaborate with company artists in exploring the theatre-making process.

FOR ADULTS (Ages 18 & Up)
People's Light offers classes for adults of all ages and levels of experience. Introductory classes allow adults to explore theatre-making through ensemble activities, improvisation, and script work. Advanced classes provide opportunities for actors to build on their previous acting training, pursuing advanced techniques and scene study.

FOR YOUTH (Grades 2-12)
In youth Theatre School classes and Summerstage, young people create stories, build skills in acting, improvisation, and enjoy making theatre together in a supportive and stimulating environment. The primary goal of these classes is to introduce young people to creative self-expression and to physical and vocal skills.

Core Classes are divided by age group and focus on developing the basic tools of the actor - body, voice and imagination. Core classes are appropriate for students of all levels.

Intensive Classes are designed for students who have taken previous Core Classes and are ready for more advanced work. Classes focus on deepening acting skills through improvisation, ensemble technique, coaching in voice and movement, and scene work.
