Director of Patron Services

People’s Light is searching for a new Director of Patron Services. The successful candidate will be given a groundbreaking opportunity to elevate the role of hospitality and to develop innovative approaches to sales. The Director of Patron Services is responsible for overseeing ticketing operations, customer service, and sales support. Patron Services and House Management Departments will be direct reports. This person will be an important member of the senior management team, and will report directly to the General Manager/Chief Financial Officer.

While this position is not new to the organization, it has been given a more senior status as an outcome of our recently completed strategic plan. As People’s Light evolves over the next few years as a Cultural and Civic Center with theater at its core, the role of Patron Services must be fully engaged in developing a more relational dynamic with all our patrons.

The Director of Patron Services will exercise leadership in creating, planning, and implementing activities that deliver the optimal patron experience while achieving sales goals. “Patrons” are defined as subscribers, single ticket buyers, donors, guests, and visitors to People’s Light. The “patron experience” includes all patron activities, from inquiry to exiting the theatre. Patron Services is the face of People’s Light, and this department is responsible for overseeing the creation and maintenance of a seamless and on-going relationship with each patron.

Essential Roles:
• Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate activities that provide an outstanding and safe patron experience while achieving yearly sales goals.
• Hire, develop, and coach Patron Services associates who provide the highest level of customer service.
• Collaborate with other departments to develop and implement best practices for all patron touch-points including ticketing operations, outbound phone room, house management and volunteer teams, marketing, communications, facilities, restaurant and catering operations, etc.
• Serve as the voice of the patron in providing vital feedback to leadership and the senior team regarding patron experiences, requests, and other service needs.
• Work with Director of Data Insight/Tessitura Specialist and GM/CFO to ensure proper internal controls for all ticketing and outbound sales operations. Ensure Tessitura best practices are followed.
• Develop successful sales incentives for ticketing and outbound sales representatives in collaboration with sales team.
• Collaborate with marketing department to ensure consistent messaging, tracking, and reporting of patron transactions.
• Address patron concerns and requests promptly and develop procedures to improve patron experiences going forward.
• Enhance the development of ongoing and repeat-business relationships with patrons.
• Collaborate with senior team in developing long-range strategic plans that ensure an ongoing positive patron experience.
• Perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree and at least 5-10 years of experience working directly with the public in customer service and sales leadership; experience in hospitality industries a strong plus.
• Proven supervisory experience with strong management and organizational skills; able to lead, direct, and inspire employees.
• Experience in effectively managing multiple large-scale tasks simultaneously; excel in organizing and prioritizing.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills.
• Impeccable attention to detail, with strong analytical and reporting skills.
• Strong strategic planning and budgeting skills required.
• Ability to accommodate a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to perform in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and to work collaboratively across the organization.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of ticketing systems especially Tessitura, a strong plus.
• Experience and/or interest in issues of equity, access, and inclusion.

Compensation:
Salary dependent on qualifications. In addition, People’s Light provides competitive employee benefits, including 100% employer-paid premiums for medical and dental plans. Life insurance and long-term disability are available after one year of service. We also offer a 403(b) plan with company match, based on years of service.

Marketing & Communications Intern

The intern will work closely with the marketing staff to help build capacity and increase diversity for the many offerings at People’s Light. Interns may assist with audience research, special events, group sales, direct mail, digital assets and subscription and single ticket campaigns. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational and computer skills, be interested in theatre, thrive in a fast-paced, independent environment and have the desire to work with an enthusiastic and creative team. The intern will be supervised by the Marketing Assistant.

Responsibilities:
• Assist with preparation of press kits and actor packets
• Assist with mailings and postering in local communities
• Provide support at marketing promo events
• Attend marketing meetings and participate in brainstorming
• Develop social media content for Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
• Update press lists
• Assist with web research for new trends/best practices
• Create flyers, vouchers or other collateral materials
• Adding our productions and events to various online event calendars

Ticketing Service Representatives

Now accepting applicants for part-time box office ticketing representative positions to start work no later than February, 2015. Successful candidates must have flexible schedules and be able to work nights and weekends. Applicants should be computer literate, comfortable with a high volume of telephone calls, have the ability to multitask, and enjoy working with the public. Customer service and Tessitura ticketing software experience is a plus. Candidates must have reliable transportation. The box office is open year-round, offers 14-29 hours per week when in production, and is great for recent college grads and those individuals seeking entry level arts administration positions.
